Bali luxury hotel review – Ubud Village Resort and Spa

Are you planning a visit to the beautiful island of Bali and considering your accommodation options? With numerous luxury options to choose from it can be overwhelming to pick one that will not only meet but hopefully exceed your expectations.

Following our recent visit we have no hesitation in recommending the fabulous Ubud Village Resort and Spa. It truly is the perfect place in which to relax and unwind and is located in quite the most visually stunning location.  From the palm trees and rice fields to the little paths and tracks that meander around the site we instantly fell in love with the resort.

Located around 35 km from Denpasar International Airport Ubud is situated in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia an area famous for its crafts, rice paddies and temples.

Transfers to the resort can take around 90 minutes depending on traffic. We booked a private transfer in advance with a recommended driver/guide.

This was an absolute delight in every way. All the staff at reception had big beaming smiles and were incredibly welcoming from the moment we stepped out of the car.

The reception is open, light and very relaxing with soft gentle traditional music playing in the background.  We were led to comfortable chairs overlooking the tropical terraces to complete the check-in whilst being offered refreshing tea drinks.

Instead of walking to our ‘Garden Pool Villa’ we were driven through the resort on a golf buggy where we were greeted with a private walled villa with our name on a label next to the door (a lovely touch).  The beauty of the villa and private pool was simply breathtaking.

We opted to book a garden villa rather than a rice field pool villa and were happy with this choice.  The villa is private in all directions with no one overlooking our privacy.

The villa has a private pool, a sunken bath, showers (including toiletries and a hair dryer) inside and out, gazebos, a mini bar, drinking water, kettle/coffee machine and a safe and also satellite TV as well as very good air-conditioning with accompanying ceiling fans.

The wifi around the whole site we found to be excellent.

The room service we found was exemplary with a good selection of drinks and food available.  Also impressive was the quick service to the room.

The bed turn-down service is just lovely with the room blinds and curtains closed including the 4 post bed curtains and the bed turned down. Even a little message is left by the staff on the bed.   Drinking water is also restocked at this time.  We found this particularly lovely when returning after dinner and finding the room prepared and cosy on our return.

We loved the food at the resort, the inclusive breakfast offered a huge selection of food choices including traditional food options as well as the more universal food selections.  All are provided with a spectacular view of the terraces.

One morning we indulged and had a breakfast delivered to the villa and served whilst we were in our private pool.  This was brilliant as a brilliant memory-making experience.  Our food choices were made the night before and a delivery time was confirmed.   The food itself was fresh and delicious. We can recommend this!

For lunch and dinner options, there are multiple dining options available including a cafe near the swimming pool we used which has spectacular views of the rice fields. Then there is the lounge area and the restaurant options for the evening to enjoy a delicious meal and watch the spectacular sunset.   One evening we also watched the traditional Balinese dancers show whilst enjoying our delicious dinner.

Room service we found was incredibly efficient too when we decided to stay in and enjoy our dinner within the privacy of the spectacular garden villa which has a well-lit dining area set next to the private pool.

The on-site options for visitors are excellent.  The swimming pool is so tranquil looking over the rice fields makes for that perfect location, here we willed away the hours with a good book.

The spa is described as a peaceful head-to-toe indulgence and judging by the resort surroundings this will be the case.  There are lovely lounges around the site that are perfect for relaxing with friends and family. We particularly enjoyed the Banjar Lobby lounge enjoying the panoramic view of the site during sunset, a magical memory-making experience.

The site also offers the services of a photographer for a personal photo shoot.  We are so pleased we took advantage of this opportunity early one morning. The photographers were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and put us immediately at ease. We enjoyed a laugh and of course, received some amazing photo memories.

We cannot praise the staff at the resort high enough, from the first moment of arriving they were engaging, warm and friendly.

Throughout our entire stay, nothing appeared to be too much trouble for all the staff we encountered.

On the morning of checking out, again the staff were exemplary.  Transport had been arranged for our transfer to the airport but due to a public holiday we had to leave earlier than expected but the reception staff arranged this without any fuss.

All our luggage was again transferred to the lobby by a golf cart.

Categorically yes, from the first moment arriving to the second we left we had nothing but a 10/10 experience in terms of the resort, the accommodation, the food, and the staff.  We cannot wait until our next visit.

Ubud itself has plenty for all visitors to enjoy (including our favourite day spa) but in the immediate area and further afield there is so much for everyone to see and do.
