BOTANICAL GARDENS TO VISIT AROUND THE WORLD (PART 2)
SINGAPORE BOTANICAL GARDENS
We were very lucky to stop off in Singapore for a few days on our trip to Australia in 2013. One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Botanical Gardens which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Orchid Garden is particularly beautiful. The gardens are free to enter but to enter the Orchid Garden there is a fee of $5 per adult
As Singapore is located in the tropics it is hot and steamy. Temperatures seemed to average 30 degrees when we were there (apparently 24 – 33 degrees is the average range). Wear a hat, wear sunglasses and comfortable walking shoes and put on plenty of sun cream and enjoy!
KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS
Kirstenbosch’s beautiful gardens can be found on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. This is probably for me the botanical gardens with the most beautiful setting. How amazing to find such gardens at the southernmost tip of Africa with Table Mountain as its backdrop. The gardens are also only 13km from Cape Town city centre.
The gardens showcase the unique flora that can be found in the Cape (classified as a UNESCO World Heritage area)
If I go to Cape Town a visit to Kirstenbosch is a must.
It costs R35 for adults to enter (about £2!!)
I hope you have enjoyed my post about four very special botanical gardens! Have you been to any? Which is you favourite? Is there another botanical garden you think should be included?
