One of the most common questions I am asked by members of my UK Travel Planning Group when organising their trip is where are the best places to stay in London (rapidly followed with a request for hotel recommendations).

I always recommend staying as close as possible to central London and within Zone One of the London Underground. This makes it easier especially if you are first-time visitors to London to make the most of your trip and not waste time traveling to sights every day. It is important to understand the characteristics of the different districts in London and an essential if you want to choose the right area for your needs, interests and of course budget. Zone 1 also contains all of London’s central districts, major rail terminals, and most of the major tourist attractions.

London is not a cheap city and accommodation can be pricey. If you are looking for a more luxury option you will find 5 star hotels spread across the capitals main central districts. However value stays can be found including AirBnB and apartments and I have also included links in each section. Accommodation in London does get fully booked months in advance so I would recommend making reservations as soon as possible when planning your trip.

In this guide you will find information about each of the main areas located within Zone 1, the characteristics of the area, what to see in that area, who it will most appeal to as well as some recommended options for those seeking accommodation in luxury, family, and budget (ish!) categories.

If you are planning a visit to London why not join my UK focussed travel planning group on Facebook – you can chat to other travelers and get tips and advice to help you plan your trip!
